TRADE WAR STRATEGY — As the U.S. intensifies its economic pressure on China, former President Donald Trump claims he’s making the boldest move yet. But China may already be holding the winning hand.
The U.S. plans to raise tariffs on key Chinese goods up to 60%, and electric vehicles to 125%. Though a 90-day grace period exists, it’s clear the U.S. is drawing a hard line. But Beijing isn’t blinking.
Unlike Trump’s past tactics, China enters this round with more leverage. Over the last decade, it has expanded its economic web through the Belt and Road Initiative, reduced reliance on Western supply chains, and quietly gained allies in trade.
China's April 11 counter-tariffs weren't reactionary — they were a show of calm, calculated power.
“China holds more cards than many think — in fact, it might already be holding the deck.”
Trump has tried to paint this as a matter of "respect", but seasoned observers say China is moving with precision — not emotion.
Emerging nations from Southeast Asia to Africa are now aligning more closely with China's economic model. If this continues, the U.S. could find itself diplomatically cornered.
The irony? Trump's aggressive tariff strategy might have only strengthened China's hand in the global game.
